Nearly every client having a home inspection done also requests a wood-destroying insects (WDI) inspection… and for good reason. WDI inspections are often required by lenders as well. When so much is at stake with your investment, having the property thoroughly and professionally inspected for wood-destroying insects is a no-brainer, especially when it is one of the least expensive services offered.

Although a WDI inspection is commonly referred to as a pest inspection, it is important to understand that not all “pests” are a major concern for this type of inspection. We focus, in particular, on identifying evidence of insects that can damage wood structure and lead to substantial repair costs. These include insects like termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and powderpost beetles, for example. Termites alone cause damage to approximately 600,000 homes in the U.S. each year amounting to billions of dollars.
